Abs light on

2009 xtr 1.6hdi, so my abs light was coming on very intermittent could be once a month or once every 2 months but now has come on and stayed on. Is it because it's booked in for mot next week!
So I can't see anything obvious don't have a code reader but if it's a wheel sensor seems a strange pattern I would expect it to fail and stay so.
Anybody else had similar, or could it be brake light switch or fluid level sensor?

After Market Security

Having some very strange problems with my central locking and alarm.
1. Horn blowing once every few mins when door or bonnet open.
2. Horn blowing once every few min's after locking van (with key or fob)
3. Horn not working when steering pressed.
4. (now) Horn blowing constantly when I open the van with key or fob.

I have looked at and cleaned the horn connection behind air bag. Horn still didn't work normally.
I have tried every combination of locking and unlocking the van but still had the horn beeping once every few min's.
I have done a BSI reset last night and not its the constant horn after opening van.

I have found a sticker in the back of the van from a Vehicle Security company and I'm wondering if there is some after market extra security that has been added.

Where would I look for control boxes or the like to differentiate between standard Citroen alarm and any added stuff.

Its doing my head in and I have talked to a dealer who want €160 + Vat  (2 hours) labour just to plug the van in. I have had it plugged in to a ODB reader but there are no faults. Cheap reader so dont know how reliable that would be.

Any advice from the technically minded here would be appreciated.

Been thinking of mounting an LEA light bar to the front bumper for a while. Does anyone know anything about wiring them up and if it will mess up the canbus wiring? I'd probably get a wiringbajrmess with the light and cut out the switch so they light bar came on with the main beams only...

EGR clean, plastic separation

Hi all,

Decided to clean my EGR and have a quick question. It is a 1.6hdi (57 reg) 9HXC engine (no fap). Once I take it off, do I need to separate the two bits, the plastic (supposedly electronic part) from the bottom one in order to clean it properly? I have a carb cleaner and was thinking of soak it in that and have a toothbrush to clean it properly. If it is easy to separate them, if there some specific procedure to put them back together, some sort of alignment?

Thanks for any pointers.

195/65/15 Goodyear Winter Wheel & Tyre set

Evening all,

As Ebay robs you blind these days, I am looking for better ways to move my winter wheels on without encouraging their paypal /listing / final value fees!

I have a mint set of Winter wheels from my 2012 Berlingo. I have since moved the van on to another member of staff and bought an Octavia vRS estate, so I am looking to fund a set of 225/45 17 Winters for this - so there is my genuine reason for sale.

These are genuine Berlingo steel wheels that I purchased. 2 of the tyres are brand new Goodyear UltraGrip 8 (95T) and the other 2 are Goodyear UltraGrip 9 (95T) with approx 1500  motorway miles on them. I look after my cars and the tyres have never seen a kerb and always ran on the optimum tyre pressures.

There are a couple of minor marks on the rims where the wheel trims have been pushed on. Perfectly balanced, no wobbles, drive great. I decided to  try winter wheels on the van after experiencing how awful it was in the snow with the standard Michelin Eco tyres it came with. Living in the hills of Halifax at the time, the van could hardly get going, and when you did get it moving, it then couldn't stop! Coming from the previous generation Berlingo (which was amazing in the snow), this was a bit of a shock! The winters cured this, completely!

For those who haven't tried winter tyres, the best way to describe these is - grip like driving in summer, during winter! They are designed to work when the temperatures dip below 8 degrees. They shift water amazingly well and grip in all conditions! They are the most impressive tyre I have experienced for the job they do. Even in the snow, they grip, set-off and stop amazingly well - something i didn't think possible from a mere tyre change.

These are NOT your average cheap and cheerful winter tyre. They work in all weather conditions and will not let you down. I always like my Goodyear tyres and these did not disappoint.

I need to free up the space in the garage as i currently have a spare set for my Alfa, Skoda and a van i no longer drive.....so hopefully someone on here is in the market and can make use of them.

I can take these to my work in Dewsbury if this help. Postage is an option, but subject to additional costs.

Cash on collection preferred.

Any questions, please just ask. Many thanks for looking.

Hi guys, I want to install a pioneer sph-da120 double din radio into my 2010 berlingo. Now I've seen some posts here about keeping the stalk volume etc controls working with the new radio via a patch lead but according to a Halfords Audo specialist it can not be done. Am I right in thinking it can? If so can anyone help in what connectors/leads I would need to swap out the original radio with this new one.

Any help is welcomed!

Thank you!

Idle issue

I have a 2004 1.6 petrol multispace.

The past few days it's been acting a bit weird mainly before it gets to full temperature.

If I dip the clutch after it's been revving at a higher rpm, it used to drop suddenly to about 1000rpm and then settle slowly and drop in to a steady Idle.

However it's been dropping fast and straight down to about 600rpm. When it's running cold, it stalls. Once warm it recovers to 850rpm and a normal Idle.

Once it's fully warmed up it behaves pretty much as normal or only dips to 800rpm before settling higher.

Does anyone know what the issue is likely to be.

The car runs on lpg but it does it on petrol although not quite as likely to stall on petrol.

It's a bit of problem as it is stalling when I am approaching a junction and I dip the clutch, so the power steering kick out.

Replacing the dashboard lights in a Nemo

I just replaced the blown bulbs in my Fiorino and it nearly turned into a nightmare. So despite the Nemo not being the most popular thing out here, I figured it may be helpfull to someone anyways.

1. Warning!

Before you begin, make sure to have the switch set to "recirculation". If you proceed in the setting as shown in the picture above you end up breaking this piece (like I did):

2. Taking the dashboard apart

Start with removing the console. Best way is to start at the bottom and pry it out with a old creditcard. When it starts to come out switch to a flathead screwdriver. The cable connected to the console is a bit short and maybe caught up behind the radio so be gentle.

Behind the console you'll find a hex screw. With the screw removed you can remove the panel with the vents, it takes quit some force, make sure to be gentle and pull at every corner or you might break something.

Now it gets a bit tricky. First we need to remove the switch, leave the two hex screws in place. As said make sure it is in "recirculation", so the far right position. Use a set of pliers to pull of the plastic cap while supporting the plastic bit its attached to. Again be really carefull as its not a very sturdy piece of plastic and it is a huge pain to replace.

Now you can remove the two hex screws. Getting the bottom panel out is a little hard as it is clamped in at all sides. First make sure the knobs are in a position thats easy for you to remember. The airflow/airco knob is not attached to the panel so dont bother about that.

Now pry off the top clamps. Then push the white console behind the panel inside, while pulling the panel out. This should free the latches at the bottom and now with some force you can pull the panel out. Once again be carefull not to damage the plastic switch.

And there we are, the dash only has two bulbs, nothing special here, just pull them out. I replaced them for a set of Philips Vision 12516b2 set.

3. Getting the dashboard back together

Pretty much the same idea but then backwards, dont forget to reinstall the plastic bit and be carefull not to break it, or you'll end up like me spending an hour to find one at a scrapyard.

2002 Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v petrol manual gearbox

Today my Berlingo just stopped in the middle of a junction, no warning just died, 77k on the clock, it turns over but won't fire, I got the RAC to bring it home for me, I've checked for fault codes and 1 has been generated - P03369 RPM sensor/engine speed sensor, I've looked on google but most images and answers are for 1.6 HDI engines, where is the  crank sensor on my car, is it at the front of the engine next to the crank pulley or is it at the rear at the flywheel end, I can't check myself until tomorrow morning as it's too dark outside just now, just wanting to have a good idea of were it is prior to commencing work.

Many thanks in advance.

My air filter housing is jumping up and down. rattles when on idle.

Any one know how the filter box is mounted in the back of the engine?
I can see the two rubber buffer/dampner in front of the filter box. but dont think they are the cause of the nioce.

Is there a easy way to take the box out of the car to change the filter?
Any ideas?

DV6 injector seals

$

Our Berlingo (with 120k on, now) has just come back from nearly a week in a local garage having the injector seals replaced.  The reason it took so long was that the injectors put up a fight due to carbon build-up.  Not unusual for a DV6, I know, which was why I didn't attempt the job myself when I noticed that 2 seals were blowing.

Bearing in mind that Wor Lass wants to keep the car at least another 3 years, would it be prudent to replace the seals as a matter of course after, say, another 50k miles?  I have no way of knowing if the set that have just been binned are original, or what.

TIA
Stuart.
